Long week

So the first week of uni has passed. It was most likely the most hectic week I've had since I've been at uni. It was mainly having 8am-6pm three days in a row and spending about 4 hours a day standing at our club stall trying to recruit people to join us (especially under the blazing sun for the final two days =_=). You would think I would've adjusted to the uni timetable while attending summer school, but no, that is not the case. Whatsoever. Never have I been more tired, mentally tired. I had used up all my social energy by the third day and after I just didn't want to talk to anyone. It was a mission to continue any in depth conversation. That was most surprising for me, as I had never felt that badly. I think I just have to pace myself next time, like in exercising, haha.

I'm surprised I managed to turn up to all three 8am classes actually, although they're pretty interesting (I like our lecturer, + getting class rep is a bonus :p). Most of my classes at the moment are just introductions or revision of last year's material, so it's not too hard. Korean is proving to be most interesting, definitely a good divergence from all the numbers in the morning and physiology in the afternoon XD. Although sadly I am having a bit trouble with it, I shall have to get some help. Also the fact that my brain 'turns off' after 2pm doesn't really help my case though, can't focus on my medsci classes T.T.

Then there was our welcoming BBQ for all the members who signed up this year. I wasn't assigned much, so it wasn't too bad. But then again my one weakness was always that I wasn't a very leader type character, so I felt quite disappointed with my performance while leading my group. I just feel like the groups I always end up with never really have that much participation or competitive spirit. I don't want to blame my group, since if it happens often it might be a problem with me. I guess this is just something I will have to work hard to learn along the way, being a good leader. Got some pretty good feedback though, people seemed to have fun :) (hopefully they aren't just saying that to make me feel better ^^")

After all that, I was exhausted. When I got home, I had a shower and went straight to bed (only went on facebook for about 20mins, which is a record for me). I hadn't slept that early since that one day during summer school where I felt sick. Best 11 hours sleep ever.

What I learnt: This bird is a gynandromorph, which means it is an organism that displays both male and female characteristics. The brightly coloured red side is is male, while the bland white side is female. Article here

Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis)
